1950s and earlier Seniors' Reunion in May 2006

A most memorable reunion was hosted by the school on Sunday 14 May. We celebrated the 60th Anniversary of the re-opening of Wycombe Abbey after the war. A very large number of the 150 girls who re-started the school in 1946 came from all over the world, and joined the reunion of these who were at Wycombe Abbey before the school closed in 1942, as well as Seniors who left in the 1950s.
A few of us had met the evening before when we shared memories and poured over photographs with great hilarity.
The School made a tremendous effort with special ‘60 Years On’ tables at lunch for those who were at the school for what became known as the First Summer Term in May 46.

A 60th Anniversary Table
The day began with a Chapel Service giving thanks for the continuation of Wycombe Abbey School. We sang both school hymns with nostalgia and gusto and it was good to have the present school and the Seniors sharing the Service together.
Some of the girls took us on tours of the school including the state-of-the-art Sports Centre which was opened last year and we marvelled at how different things are, while basically keeping the school’s same spirit. The day ended with a concert given by the present girls in the new Arts Centre across the lake.
We would like to thank Pauline Davies the Headmistress, and Anne Rice development coordinator; as well asthe catering staff and everyone at the school for making it such a memorable day.
